A Brief History of my Unglamorous Jobs
If you were to ask most people, they would not consider teaching to be a glamorous job. Most days I wear my worn in sneakers, sweat off all of my make-up from the endless running around and come home with sometimes multiple unidentifiable substances on my jeans. Despite this, I love teaching, and have been dreaming about becoming a teacher for as long as I can remember. It is a career that I would not change for anything!
However, on the long road to obtaining my degree, I have worked a whole host of “unglamorous” side jobs along the way. For example, my first “official” job (as in, one where I brought home a legit paycheck) was working the popcorn machine at the concession stand of a drive-in movie theatre. While the job did include some pros (free popcorn), the cons consisted of leaving every day looking as if I myself had a buttery coating while watching everyone I knew from high school out enjoying their Saturday night.
Working these side jobs has been a necessity to pay for my education, to provide for my family, and to reach my goals. This is something that I explore more fully in my article The Fundamental Lesson That Made Me Embrace an Unglamorous Side Job, which has been featured over at my favourite personal finance site, The Financial Diet.
So if you are interested in learning a bit more about some of my more unglamorous jobs and side hustles, I invite you to head on over to The Financial Diet to check it out!
